CPF

This artwork is a powerful and critical portrayal of Brazilian reality, highlighting the marginalization and struggles faced by Black and peripheral communities. The masked man, faceless, represents the loss of individual identity in a system that reduces him to a number — symbolized by the CPF card in his hand (Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry). This reduction of humanity to a bureaucratic figure reflects a critique of the dehumanization perpetuated by social and institutional structures.

The presence of the dead white dove is deeply symbolic, representing the death of peace and innocence. However, the origami bird flying outside the cage creates a symbolic tension between oppression and an unattainable ideal of freedom. The cage on the man’s head reinforces this idea, showing that his mind is imprisoned, while the disproportionately large weapon he carries reflects an imbalance of power and a violent reality that consumes him. The walkie-talkie on his waist suggests control and surveillance, highlighting the irony of a man who appears to wield power but is, in fact, part of a system where he is also controlled and manipulated.

This composition delivers a sharp critique of social inequality, structural violence, and dehumanization, inviting the viewer to reflect on the impact of these forces on human identity and freedom.
